As the NFL draft season comes to a close, the focus has shifted to players who might have some major upside.
That’s because of the myriad of talent around the league.
With that in mind, Polygon decided to run a series of mock drafts in order to give fans a quick and easy way to determine which NFL prospects are the team’s favorite.
We started by taking a look at some of the more intriguing prospects in this year’s draft class.
After a few weeks of drafting, we were able to get a feel for what the draft looked like from a wide variety of viewpoints.
We’re going to be keeping track of all of the picks as they come down the pike and looking for any clues that could lead us to the next pick.
With that said, let’s take a look.
The first of which is our first mock draft for the 2014 NFL Draft.
With this first mock, we’re looking to pick a quarterback from the Texas Tech product class.
This year, the Aggies have a lot of talent, but have yet to really showcase any of it.
They also lack any depth on defense and have a ton of questions surrounding their offense.
In order to maximize the team going forward, the Texans have a need at the position, which is why we’re going with this quarterback in this mock.
Next up is a linebacker.
The San Diego Chargers have a plethora of talented linebackers, but their lack of depth has made them a bit of a lottery ticket this year.
The only player that is really close to making the team is Louisville’s Melvin Ingram.
He’s a big guy who can play linebacker and defensive end, and while he isn’t going to break any new ground for us, he’s a great value in this class.
If you’re in the market for a linebacker this year, check out the Dallas Cowboys.
The next guy we want to focus on is a tight end.
The New York Jets have a number of big-time tight ends on their roster, but the Jets have been without a franchise quarterback for the past three seasons.
This is an opportunity for an emerging player to jump in.
This would be the first player in the draft class to take advantage of the opportunity, as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have two picks in the first round.
After all the big names and talented tight ends have been selected, the Jets should look to take a player in this draft class who might not necessarily be the biggest name in the class.
With the top-ranked defensive tackle in the 2015 class, Khalil Mack, and a number other defensive backs set to enter the NFL in the near future, it’s no surprise that the Jets would want to get some big-name talent at their disposal.
This will come as no surprise to anyone who’s seen the video of Mack getting hit in the face by a pass and being taken down by his teammate.
The fact that he’s still alive is quite the accomplishment.
It was the biggest hit he had in the last decade.
If he can be the best player in football, and he is, he could easily end up as one of the most valuable players in this whole draft class, especially given that he is only 19 years old.
The final player we want is a cornerback.
With a number on the roster, it makes sense to take the top cornerback in this pick.
There are a number in this round who are very talented and have some intriguing skills.
This pick is going to require a lot more than just a solid draft pick, as we’re also looking at a wide receiver, a running back, and the possibility of a cornerback with some big potential.
The last piece of the puzzle is a wideout.
With so many great players at wide receiver and cornerback, there’s a reason why the Jets are taking a player with those traits in this upcoming draft class and looking to upgrade the secondary.
The Detroit Lions have some talented young players in the slot, but none of them are going to get drafted in the top 10.
If they can get the cornerback and safety, they’ll have a player who can help turn this corner quickly.
The Jets will have to make some tough decisions in this first round, but with the talent around them, the team should be able to pull it off.
The team will likely take a receiver at this point, as that is what they have in the form of Devin Smith, who could be an immediate impact.
The secondary is going a little bit deeper than most of the teams that enter the draft, but Smith is a great safety prospect.
With all the talent in this group, he will make for an interesting combination of players to watch moving forward.
After taking a few of the top prospects, the next round of mock draft picks could be interesting as well.
With an extra top-tier player, the Broncos could look to add another veteran to their roster.
That player could be a defensive tackle, and they’ve been
